Box up papers (sorted and labeled by year) in sturdy banker's boxes or plastic storage boxes and store them in the basement, attic, garage or other non-prime spaces. You likely won't have to ever access them again, but it's important to keep these documents for seven years. When you add a new year, remove and shred the oldest year's papers.
