Do you remember the excitement of sharing Halloween with your family and friends? My brother, four younger sisters, friends and I were always very well organized for the big day with our original, homemade costumes, trick-or-treat bags and flashlights. Year to year the late October weather varied but never stopped us from visiting and trick-or-treating at nearly every home in our neighborhood.
When we returned home, my siblings and I would sit in a circle in the middle of the living room to sort out and organize our candy for trading. Mars Bars, Milky Ways, Tootsie Rolls, Three Musketeers, Pay Days, Mounds, Sky Bars, Almond Joy, Charleston Chews, M and Ms, Necco Wafers and more! Thinking back, those trading candy piles were exceptionally well organized and made for a memorable night! Get your Halloween supplies ready and have fun welcoming trick-or-treaters to your home this evening! Put several attractive baskets on the shelves to hold your keys, sunglasses, umbrellas, etc. Be mindful to minimize visual clutter and perhaps consider adding a plant or two on the shelves, too.

She has a variety of them in all kinds of colors and patterns. If it's ever raining when any of her six children are visiting, she always tells us to take an umbrella with us to stay nice and dry. (She loves flashlights and yes, we all have multiple flashlights, too!)
Well, that got me to thinking about where my own three or four umbrellas are (in the trunk of my car) and why I needed to get better organized with my umbrella storage. Obviously, it's best to keep an umbrella IN the car rather than in the trunk of the car because you always get wet while walking back to your trunk and fishing about for it. Sometimes the obvious isn't always so check out your own umbrella storage and enjoy staying dry when next it rains! Solution: Park and secure your car then take a photo of the aisle number and/or parking spot number in the lot or garage to help you find your car with ease. If you are parking on the street, take a photo of the street sign and/or visible landmark near your parked car to jog your memory. Be sure to delete the photo after use so your cell phone camera will be well organized for your next car adventure. Traveling light got me to thinking about planning fall and winter get-aways. When in doubt, leave it out! Adopt a European standard for fashion by wearing your favorite things multiple times while on vacation. You can hand-wash in the hotel sink if necessary. No one ever wishes they had brought more stuff on vacation!
